The Laguna Beach Department of Marine Safety has been directed to make severe
service cuts
that directly affect beach safety within the City.

Lifeguard service hours have been decreased by one third.

The United States Lifesaving Association estimates that the chance of drowning on a beach
with lifeguards on duty is less than 1 in 18 million
. With current spring conditions and
summer quickly approaching, our first priority will be to continue to educate the public about
water safety and direct visitors to areas when lifeguard service is provided.
